We cover the insurance questions the front page skips.
Search for "best car insurance" and you'll get twenty nearly identical listicles ranking the same five national carriers. That's not useful if you just got a DUI and need an SR-22 filed today, if you're a college student trying to insure a car you only drive three weeks a year, if you own a 1967 Mustang worth more than its blue-book price, or if you're a freelance personal trainer whose gym just asked for proof of liability coverage before your next session.
Unconventional Insurance exists for those moments — the ones where the need is specific, the timeline is urgent, and the standard advice doesn't quite fit.
How we research
Every guide starts from primary sources: state DMV and department-of-insurance pages, carrier policy documents, certifying-body requirements (NASM, ACE, ISSA), and collector-vehicle valuation guides like Hagerty and NADA. We link directly to those sources throughout each article so you can verify anything before you rely on it.
What we're not
We are an independent publisher, not a licensed insurance agency. We don't sell policies, bind coverage, or take applications. Think of us as the research step before you talk to an agent or get a quote — not a replacement for either.
